5 Ways To Get Your River Fix In The Winter

Are you having withdrawals from rafting season? We sure are! Here are 5 ways we’ve brainstormed to help you your river fix in the winter.

1. Pray for snow
The depth of the rivers and the quality of rafting is 95% dependant on snow melt. Without snow during the winter and spring months there will smaller rapids and lots of boat maneuvering come summer time. Be sure to keep tabs on the snowpack report in Colorado. Remember the more snow that falls, the better the rafting conditions! We love whitewater and snow for that reason!

Get your Chacos, Tevas, Keens, or your preferred water shoes out to break them in for this upcoming rafting season. Wearing your river shoes is a great pre-season activity to get your spirits high for hitting the whitewater this summer. (Insider Tip: wear those river shoes with warm socks if you really want to get in the mood! Definitely not the most stylish choice but very comfortable!).

3. Go Fishing
An activity that rivers in Colorado offer all year long is fly-fishing. Any river that has a swift current will be open for fly fishing. A lot of whitewater rivers in Colorado are gold medal rated waters, which means that you can find some of the best fly fishing in the United States in these streams. You may not be rafting on the water, but it is always enlightening to spend some time fly fishing by the river, especially during the winter months with the beautiful snow-covered landscape. Just make sure to dress warm!

4. Look At The Media
Looking into rafting blogs or simply Youtubing rafting videos will get you closer to the rafting experience that you are unable to obtain during the winter season. AVA Rafting has some exhilarating videos taken on the Arkansas River and Clear Creek that you should check out.

5. Book Your Trip or Reserve Your Gear Today
Go to www.coloradorafting.net and go ahead and book your rafting trip. Why wait until the summer to book your trip when you can take advantage of the discounts being offered when you book during the winter time? You can also pre-reserve your gear with us at Colorado River Rentals. That way you can know for certain that you will have some time on the water this summer.
