Life jackets are made to save your LIFE! Whether its floating down the river, kayaking, extreme rafting or just fishing wearing a life jacket can prevent injuries and deaths. PFD ( personal floatation devices) when worn are not that much of a hassle when properly fitted. When renting life jackets the person renting them to you should be aware of the right fit for you. If going on trips most companies will provide the proper PFD’s. Here’s life jacket support for how to fit your jacket.

Wearing the right fit life vest is extremely important! You will want to make sure before doing an activity that the life vest is tight enough without being overly uncomfortable. The PFD Should be tight that when you pull up from your shoulder the vest does not move. This is so If it came down to it and you needed to be pulled out of the water from your vest and will not come off of you. Straps should be pulled tight and the vest should be fit around your upper torso.

When buying a life jacket I would recommend reading reviews before purchasing.  There are a number of different types of PFD’s. Different types are for different activities, such a low profile PFD would provide more movement and would be better for an activity such as kayaking because you get a little more movement out of them. Depending on water levels is also a factor when purchasing a PFD. The maximum flotation of the life jacket should be dependent on what you’re doing, how much you weigh and how high the waters is.

Humans are not the only ones the can wear a life vest. If your dog is like mine hes not an amazing swimmer but loves the water. You can put puppy life vest and take your dogs on a safe adventure with you. Alot of Dog vest will provide a grab handle on them making it super easy to grab your pup out of the water.

Whether it may be you and your group or you and your dog life vest are an simple precaution, remember not only having the life jacket but having the right fit life jacket is the only way to go. This will  make your trip a lot safer with more room to think about fun!
