Common Misconceptions About Rafting

If you have never been rafting before and are concerned that may be an issue, we are here to clear the air! We have rafting trips for every experience and adventure level. If it happens to be your first time going downstream, no problem! Check out the list below and you will find the top 5 most common misconceptions about rafting.

rafting1. “Will we get wet on our rafting trip?” – More than likely, yes, you sure will my friend! You are heading out on the open river which most of the time has a lot of water in it, which would result in you having some sort of contact with water at some point. When you are loving life, splish-splashing in and out of swift rapids, don’t worry about the water; it actually can be pretty refreshing in the hot Colorado sun!

2. “You have to be an expert to go rafting.”- False, you do not have to be an expert to be able to enjoy yourself on a whitewater rafting trip. There are all sorts of levels and age limits that we go by to ensure your safety. Colorado River Rentals offers trips from class ll-V, from floaty and fun to adrenaline-pumping adventure. Just give CRR’s trip specialists a call and they will be able to inform you which trip you should consider.

3. “Will the water be warm?”- Most likely not. The water is snow runoff from the amazing winter season. No need to worry, though, as CRR provides you with wetsuits, splash jackets, life preservers and helmets, which definitely help with the chilly water. Most of the time it can be sunny and beautiful outside, so the water can be refreshing while going downstream.

Upper C4. “It will only be our group out there, right?”- That is pretty unlikely. Depending on the river you are rafting, there can definitely be a high volume of rafts out with all different companies running the same stretch of water. It definitely varies depending on the time of year.

5. “The guide will do all of the paddling, right?” – This is a group effort! Everyone on the raft will be required to paddle. If you are choosing to do a whitewater rafting trip, then you should be aware of what to expect. Everyone on board (except in rare cases) will participate in maneuvering around on the rapids. If you are looking for something a little more relaxed, then check out CRR’s Float Trip on the Upper Colorado!
